WELCOME TO MUSIC AT PLATO ACADEMY!!!! I'm Scott Sable and am very excited to be the new Music Teacher at Plato Academy this year. Music has been an important part of my life since I was in elementary school and I'm thrilled to be able to help your child learn to enjoy all that music has to offer. I started playing the piano in first grade after being inspired by what I was learning from my school music teachers. For more than 40 years, I've been a piano soloist and accompanist. Besides performing, I've directed professional and children's choirs and taught music classes to students in grades pre-k through high school. I greatly enjoy helping students present musical performances and look forward to preparing the students to appear in our upcoming concerts this year. I hope you will be able to attend! My family moved to Florida from Ohio three years ago, and I will take sunshine over snow any day! Back in Ohio, I graduated from Cleveland State University and spent many years working in leadership positions in the business world. Last year, I was able to retire from the business world and pursue my passion of working full-time with children on something that I truly love - MUSIC!!! I'm eligible to teach Music (K-12) and Social Studies (6-12) in Florida, and spent most school days last year as a substitute teacher in the Pasco County Schools. My wife, Mrs. Sable, has been a kindergarten teacher at Plato Academy Tampa since it’s opening. We are the proud parents of Zachary, who graduated college last year and now works for Facebook, and Jordyn, who is studying Exceptional Student Education at the University of Central Florida. (Three out of four of us will soon be preparing our lesson plans together!) We also have two cats. Thanks for allowing me to introduce myself. I look forward to meeting you during the year. If you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected]. One more thing - I would like to share with you some of the benefits for students who study music in school. Attached is some information from The Hugh A. Glauser School of Music at Kent State University (Ohio). |
